To Encourage Young People to Use Libraries

SLMSSENY is looking to fund innovative and exemplary programs which promote excellence in library service to children and young adults. Total award of up to $500.

Eligibility

1. Applicant must be a current member of SLMSSENY.  Not yet a member?  Please complete the membership application to be considered for an award.

2. Applicant must be a certified school library media specialist currently employed in the SLMSSENY seven county region.

3. Previous winners are ineligible.

One scholarship will be awarded, totaling up to $500. The committee reserves the right to divide the awards in the event of a tie.

3. Applications must be received by April 26, 2025.

Review and Selection Process

Each application will be evaluated by a blind selection process done through a set committee of Executive Board Members.

Terms of Acceptance

• Winner is responsible for submitting receipts for program related costs (up to the $500 award amount) by December 31, 2025.

• If the grant is for materials, they will be purchased on your behalf by SLMSSENY based on your detailed budget.

Recognition of Recipient

1. The recipient will be contacted by the awards chair formally recognized at our annual symposium.

2. Award winner is encouraged to attend the symposium compliments of SLMSSENY. A letter will also be sent to the winner's principal and superintendent.
