We are pleased to offer members an opportunity to apply online, using Google Forms.
The winners will be recognized for their dedication and commitment to school libraries at our annual SLMSSENY's Spring Symposium.
Recognizes an administrator who has been responsible for the initiation, maintenance, and/or improvement of a School Library Media Program in the SLMSSENY region during the past three to five years or longer. The winner will be recognized on the SLMSSENY Website as well as be given an invitation to the Spring Symposium, so that he or she may accept the award. He or she will also receive a plaque.
The purpose of this grant is to encourage young people to use libraries. SLMSSENY will award this grant every year. If you are a SLMSSENY member who has great ideas for programming in your library that you have wanted to implement but don't have the funds, apply for this grant. A simple application and proposal are all you need to get a chance at winning the $500 to improve your library programming.
Consider carefully what your students' needs are and what would make a dynamic program to support those needs. Be creative with your proposal and there is a good chance that you will get the money you need to launch your program idea or expand upon something you know works.
If you are currently a member of SLMSSENY, and are enrolled in a Library Science program, or a practicing School Media Specialist who wishes to take a class to support your professional development, consider applying for the SLMSSENY Scholarship. Send in an application with the course information and you may receive the extra funds you need to try something new and creative, or get extra credits to increase your salary.
This scholarship is for a SLMSSENY Member who is not an active Executive Board Member, County Representative, Committee Chair Liaison, who has also been a SLMSSENY member for over two years. Priority will be given to those who have never attended a NYLA SSL Conference.
Winner provides own transportation and housing. Scholarship recipient must also be a NYLA member. Scholarship Award Approximately $275 (Cost of Early Bird Registration)
