SLMSSENY Member Heckler Receives International Story Bridge Award!

Congratulations to Melissa Heckler! Melissa is the recipient of the International Story Bridge Award. The International Story Bridge Award recognizes the exemplary work, dedication and spirit of those individuals or groups that promote the building of bridges between their country and other countries through the use of storytelling and/or storytelling events.

As some of you may know, Melissa Heckler has been promoting the building of bridges between children, educators and storytellers from the United States of America with the San people of Namibia. Her work has involved bridging the academic cultural divides among an international array of scholars dedicated to the plight of San peoples in Southern Africa. All of Melissa’s work focuses on the power of storytelling and storytelling events to propel our world toward a better future by incorporating the resounding sanity and the story wisdom of the Ju/'hoan people.
