Every year SLMSSENY, your regional professional affiliate of NYLA-SSL Section of School Libraries, announces award opportunities for our members:

We are pleased to offer members an opportunity to apply online, using Google Forms. 

The winners will be recognized for their dedication and commitment to school libraries at our annual SLMSSENY's Symposium.

Current members of SLMSSENY interested in attending the NYLA-SSL conference are strongly encouraged to apply.  Consider applying for a scholarship to this dynamic conference where you'll hear from exciting key note speakers, attend engaging workshops and sessions, and connect with like-minded people in our field.  You don't want to miss this opportunity!Never been to a NYLA-SSL conference?  

Current members of SLMSSENY interested in taking a class to improve or enhance instructional and/or professional practice are strongly encouraged to apply.  Go ahead - Try something new and creative! Complete the scholarship application with applicable course information and you will be considered for up SLMSSENY scholarship of up to $500.  The scholarship is available to SLMSSENY members who are current certified library media specialists and also those pursuing their certification in school librarianship.  One scholarship will be awarded.

Current members of SLMSSENY with great ideas for programming are strongly encouraged to apply. Submit your programming proposal along with your complete grant application to be considered for $500 to improve your library programming!  Don’t be afraid to be creative, but always strongly consider the needs of your students.  One grant will be awarded.

Consider carefully what your students' needs are and what would make a dynamic program to support those needs. Be creative with your proposal and there is a good chance that you will get the money you need to launch your program idea or expand upon something you know works.

Do you have an administrator who has been particularly supportive of the school library media program in your building or district?  Supportive administrators are crucial to our continued existence.  Their support can be seen in many situations - from budgets to space to library advocacy.  Administrators who are staunch supporters of school library programs should be recognized for their efforts!  Please give great consideration to a nomination for our Administrator’s Award.  With this award, your administrator will be invited to attend our Annual Symposium where s/he will be presented with a plaque in recognition of their efforts.  The administrator will also be listed on our website in honor of their continued support of vibrant and effective school library programs.
